What makes Gaengsom Dai, or "Gaeng Lueang" so special?

  • "Gaengsom Dai" is a spicy, sour curry paste from the south (Dai) of Thailand, traditionally used for soup-like curries with fish or seafood. Unlike creamy coconut curries, this dish is based on a clear broth, which gets a strong, lemony, and fiery note from the paste.
  • This paste is one of the spiciest in your range – thanks to the intense blend of chili, red onion, garlic, and shrimp paste, rounded off with turmeric, lemongrass, and fresh lemon juice. It is:
    • Sour-fresh due to real lemon juice
    • Fiery-spicy due to Thai chili peppers
    • Rich in umami thanks to shrimp paste
    • Naturally salty with pink Himalayan salt
  • Authentic & handmade in Germany According to an original Thai recipe, but with the highest production standards – directly from Yak Thai and produced completely without additives.

All these qualities make our Gaengsom Dai curry paste a popular choice for anyone who loves Thai cuisine and wants to prepare authentic dishes at home.

    Why Yak Thai Curry Paste?

    • Truly Thai: We make all our pastes ourselves, according to authentic Thai recipes. Chonticha stands by this with her name.
    • Always fresh: We produce in small batches (max. 25 kg) here in Bavaria. If it's sold out, we make the product fresh again. We do not produce our goods for the supermarket or sea transport, but fresh for you.
    • Environment: No weeks of transport in sea containers – we produce regionally
    • Fresh ingredients: We use fresh ingredients, regionally sourced if possible. You will find no preservatives or other additives in our products.
    • Shrimp paste and fish sauce: As is common in Thailand, we sometimes use fish sauce and/or shrimp paste in our products. We want to offer you the authentic taste of Thailand. We are vegan where this is also the case in Thailand.

How should our products be dosed?

    • Since our pastes are very potent and not diluted, we recommend starting "slowly." It's best to start with a teaspoon and gradually increase. You can find our recommendations here

How long do the pastes last after opening the jar?

Yak Thai products offer the authentic taste of Thailand.

To make this possible, we use neither additives, thickeners, nor do we sterilize our products at 130 °C. Our products do not need to survive weeks of sea transport; we produce them fresh, right here in Bavaria.

IMPORTANT: Therefore, we ask you to store the products in the refrigerator after opening. Please also cover the curry pastes with a little neutral oil (e.g., rapeseed or sunflower oil), you probably know this from
    pesto.
