FAQs
Frequently asked questions about Thai recipes and Thai cuisine
Which Thai recipe should I try as an introduction?
Here, we recommend very simple dishes like Pad Thai or fried rice. You should have most of the ingredients at home, and we'll provide the rest. Click here for the recipes.
What foods should I have at home for authentic Thai recipes?
Thai cuisine uses a variety of fresh ingredients, including lemongrass, galangal, kaffir lime leaves, fish sauce, oyster sauce, coconut sugar, and coconut milk. These ingredients give the dishes their characteristic flavor and aroma. It's sufficient if you have the non-perishable ingredients at home. Everything else can be found fresh at a well-stocked supermarket.
Do I absolutely need to have a wok at home?
A definite no. You can also prepare delicious dishes in a pan. If you enjoy Thai cuisine, feel free to take the next step.
Are Yak Thai's Thai recipes vegan?
Unfortunately, we have to disappoint you here. Most of our authentic Thai products contain fish sauce or shrimp paste, as this is also the case in Thailand, and we want to offer the authentic taste. We occasionally offer vegan products, such as Khao Soi Paste and Chili Paste with Mushrooms. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
How should your pastes be dosed?
Our pastes are freshly made without any artificial preservatives. Therefore, our pastes have a much more intense flavor than standard supermarket pastes. Please approach our products slowly, ideally with a teaspoon first.
Where can I find suitable ingredients?
You should be able to find the basic ingredients at a well-stocked supermarket or your nearest Asian food store. You can get the actual seasoning pastes and sauces here in the shop or directly from us.
What makes Thai cuisine so special?
Thai cuisine is characterized by its balance of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy flavors. The use of fresh herbs and spices, as well as the art of preparation, make it unique and popular around the world.
How healthy is Thai cuisine?
Thai cuisine is known for its fresh ingredients and healthy preparation methods. Many dishes are rich in vegetables, lean protein, and healthy fats.
