What makes our products so different
At Yak Thai, authentic Thai curry pastes, seasoning pastes, sauces, and Thai meat products are created that differ significantly from conventional ready-made products. Our claim: genuine flavors, fresh ingredients, traditional recipes – without compromise.
Fresh ingredients instead of industrial standards
While many commercially available Asian pastes come from convenience production and rely on dried or long-stored raw materials, we work with fresh ingredients, which we source locally whenever possible.
Fresh lemongrass stalks, aromatic herbs, fresh chilies, red onions, and garlic: all of these are processed directly upon delivery to ensure that their natural flavors are fully preserved.

Regional – as far as possible
We are based in Europe and therefore prioritize sourcing ingredients from regional sources, provided they are authentic and of high quality.
Only typical Thai raw materials – such as dried chili varieties, kaffir lime leaves, or galangal – are imported directly from Thailand. This creates a unique combination of European freshness and Thai authenticity.
Gently pasteurized instead of aggressively heated
Many conventional products in cans or jars are sterilized at high heat – a process that extends shelf life significantly but also impairs flavor, color, and nutrients.
We deliberately do things differently:
✔ No sterilization
✔ No extreme temperatures
✔ Only gentle pasteurization
This preserves essential oils, freshness, and full aromatics. The result is pastes and sauces with a flavor much closer to freshly ground ingredients.
Traditional recipes – with shrimp paste & fish sauce
Authentic Thai cuisine thrives on its fundamental pillars.
Therefore, as is customary in Thailand, we use shrimp paste (Kapi) and fish sauce (Nam Pla) in the recipes where they belong.
These ingredients provide depth, umami, and the characteristic flavor that is often difficult to replicate at home.
Here too, we exclusively use the best available ingredients from the Megachef brand.
Many European manufacturers omit these components for cost reasons or due to their complexity. We do not.
Because without these building blocks, it simply would not be authentic.
Small batches – genuine craftsmanship
Our products are handcrafted in small quantities, not in industrial large-scale facilities.
This means:
- careful selection of ingredients
- traditional grinding of spices
- slow processing without time pressure
- continuous quality control
Each batch is a piece of genuine craftsmanship – not a mass-produced item from automated production.
Fresh instead of ultra-long shelf life
Since we deliberately avoid extreme heating and chemical preservatives, our products are not designed for the unnaturally long shelf lives that supermarkets demand. And that's exactly what makes the difference:
